Top FastPass+ Picks @ Disney's Animal Kingdom
When it comes to planning your magical Walt Disney World Vacation, your Disney specialized travel agent will ask you which FastPass+ Reservations you would like to make 60 days ahead of time! Now, I know what you're thinking, how could you possibly know what your family will want to ride 2 months before you travel???
As we plan out your FastPass+ picks, the age group of your family comes into play here. We want to ensure that your family can enjoy the attractions that they want to. At the Animal Kingdom, there are no tiers at play (check out the blog posts on Disney's Hollywood Studios and EPCOT for more information on FastPass+ Tiers). Without tiers, planning can be a struggle, but also can help to ensure that you get reservations for the top attractions! There are currently 9 attractions at the Magic Kingdom to choose from.
So, we have compiled a list of the top 5 FastPass+ picks at Disney's Animal Kingdom, check them out below!
5. Meet Favorite Disney Pals at Adventurers Outpost
Here is an attraction where you can meet with Minnie and Mickey in the Safari gear as they prepare for their next voyage around the world! The average wait time can be about 30 minutes, so not a very important attraction to get a FastPass+ for, but with little ones, it's an easier wait.
4. DINOSAUR
- This attraction is popular, but not as popular as some of the other attractions. If you're at the park early (within the frist 2 hours), head over to DINOSAUR and it's a pretty short wait on standby. The DINOSAUR attraction is inside The Dino Institute in Disney's Animal Kingdom® Theme Park where there is evidence from scientists and students who have tried to unravel the biggest mystery in the history of our planet: what happened to the dinosaurs?
3. Kilimanjaro Safaris
Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of the most popular attractions and it closely replicates the feeling of being on an actual African photo safari. Traveling on open safari vehicles through over 100 acres of wild terrain, you'll feel as if you really have traveled onto real African landscape. In alphabetical order, you’ll see antelope, baboons, black rhinos, cheetahs, crocodiles, elephants, flamingos, gazelle, giraffes, hippopotamus, lions, okapis, ostriches, warthogs, white rhinos, wildebeests, zebras and more. Lines for this attraction can easily be 45 minutes! If you get there early, get on right away! A lot of times, we have ridden 2-3 times within the first hour of the park's opening and the ride is NEVER the same as all the animals freely move about.
2. Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain
Expedition Everest is the highest "mountain" at Walt Disney world, reaching 200 feet. Your expedition begins inside a Tibetan-style stone structure at the base of Mt. Everest, where you'll pass the booking office of Himalayan Escapes – Tours and Expeditions.
You will board a train that will take you on a ride through the safe, rolling hills, before taking you inside the dangerous mountain. Get ready and hold on tight, because soon enough you'll encounter a broken track that leads to nowhere-- where will the train go next? Backwards might be your only way to safety. Beware of the snarling beast that watches over his domain…the Yeti!
Expedition Everest is one of the most popular rides at Animal Kingdom, but the single rider line makes the wait time a little more bearable if you're willing to ride alone. The regular queue can easily reach 60 minutes or more depending on the day, so a FastPass+ reservation is a must.
1. Kali River Rapids
Kali River Rapids is an unguided raft trip down the artificial Chakranadi River. You'll begin your adventure by walking through a centuries-old temple and a small shop selling hand-crafted wares. Once you enter the boathouse of Kali Rapids Expeditions, you'll step onto your raft, where the thrills await. The whitewater journey starts with a 90-foot ascent past a lush jungle. Then you’ll drop into the gushing geysers and drift under waterfalls. After you cover some choppy waters, you’ll pass debris left behind by illegal loggers and even see a few fires blazing through the landscape. As you can imagine, the wait time for this attraction, especially in the hotter summer months, can get very long! Just be prepared! The warnings, "You will get wet, you MAY get soaked", does not lie!
